Synopsis

In the 1870s, as the country recovered from the War Between the States, the expansion of railroads and the discovery of gold opened the American west to both civilization and savagery. Men and women on both sides of the law were drawn by the chance to make a fortune, and there was often a big difference between Law and Justice.

Into this whirlwind rode Nathan Stone, a man whose trail of vengeance gave him a reputation for speed with a gun. He tracked and killed the seven men who murdered his family after the war. Now, the first of those deaths has come back to haunt him. He finds unlikely friends among some of the famous gunfighters and adventurers who brought life – and death – to a land that once knew only the buffalo and the Indian. Only the strongest will survive The Killing Season.

I liked it well enough to want to read the next one. The only reason why I can't give it five stars is because of one detail I know not to be true. The way I see it, if there are real people from that time period, in this case the Old West, you (as the author) must be faithful to the facts. Wyatt Ea......more

This book is based on real people. The main characters are fictional. Nathan returned from the Civil War to find his family murdered. In a previous book, he completed this quest. This book starts with a new quest, but there are several new ones throughout this installment. If I had a complaint, it i......more

I liked this book because it is similar to Louis L’amour in that the main character is always respectful to women, always the fastest draw and wins his physical fights. Though it is different in that Nathan Stone always gets involved with others battles. Most of the Characters in Louis L’amour books......more
