Dark, gritty, claustrophobic, and, as any Cherryh novel, extremely immersive. This one is quite short and has a more narrow focus (think Merchanter's Luck). A different place, post Company Wars, a different side of things. Themes of loyalty, belonging, identity, trauma, survival. 4.5 stars.......more
