Synopsis

WILLIAM SHATNER READS CAPTAIN KIRK'S ULTIMATE ADVENTURE!

During James T. Kirk's heroic five-year mission as captain of the Starship Enterprise™, a mysterious alien threat called "The Totality" commenced its stealthy invasion intending to conquer the Milky Way galaxy as it had conquered the Andromeda. Now the time for secrecy has passed, and a war unlike any other has begun -- one that threatens to destroy the Federation, first by bringing warp travel to an end, and then by absorbing all living matter into an unknown realm.

Twice before, Captain Kirk has encountered the Totality. Both times it took the beguiling form of Norinda, an irresistible alien who becomes the woman each person she meets most desperately desires. In his first encounter, Kirk almost lost the Enterprise. In his second encounter, he almost lost his child, and watched in horror as the Totality absorbed Spock in its monstrous dimensional tendrils. But now, Kirk faces an even more devastating personal challenge. The battle lines have been drawn, and he and his friend Captain Jean-Luc Picard are on opposite sides.

After the events of Star Trek® Nemesis, on the leading edge of Star Trek's future history, Captain's Glory depicts a Federation attacked from within, on the brink of collapse, with Earth's own solar system an armed and isolated camp. Reunited with Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy and Chief Engineer Scott, Kirk must join forces with Admiral Kathryn Janeway and the Holographic Doctor from the Starship Voyager™ in order to save Spock and expose the true nature of the Totality.

I thought all afternoon about why I read Star Trek books. For the characters, for the plots, to escape, to learn something new, to explore, to be awed? I decided it was for all of these reasons and more, I am sure that I cannot think of right now, as I am sitting here trying to write a review for th......more

Wow! What an exciting book and a very fast paced conclusion to the Totality trilogy. This was way better than I had ever imagined too! All the things you could possibly want was in here, including an actual showdown between two of the popular characters (which I had never expected but while I was re......more

I suppose if the Shatnerverse novels set in the 24th century are to end, this is a good one to end on. Easily the strongest novel of the back half of the series, if not the entire series, Captain's Glory finally seems to get it right. I can't exactly say that I'll miss reading about the exploits of......more

A crisp, concise, intense, fast-moving conclusion to the Totality trilogy. I'm rather surprised how much I enjoyed this trip into the Shatnerverse...but the Kirk/Picard conflict feels like it's been pushed past its limit at this point. Move on.........more

This is an abridged audio version of the third book in a trilogy about an enemy called the Totality. Star Trek fans will enjoy this reading by William Shatner because he brings the characters alive with his engaging impersonations (although he could work on his women's voices). This audio book was l......more
