Synopsis

Every Once in a Blue Moon Your Heart Waits at a Crossroads

For Seattle architect Heather Hampton, a trip back to tiny Moses Lake, Texas, is hardly in the plan. Yet because a promotion hinges on the sale of the family farmland, Heather heads to the last place she ever wanted to go. She’s determined to return home, signed contract in hand, the next day.

But the currents of Moses Lake take visitors on unexpected journeys. As Heather’s stay lengthens, she discovers a family steeped in secrets and an unexpected connection to local banker Blaine Underhill, despite his opposition to Heather’s project. With each new revelation and
question, Heather can’t help but wonder if the handsome banker—and the family she has come to know again—are crooks or crusaders. Somehow she must find out the truth before she loses everything she has worked for and everything she’s found on the shores of Moses Lake.

“Lisa Wingate writes with depth and warmth, joy and wit.”—Debbie Macomber, New York Times bestselling author

About Lisa Wingate

We have all heard attributes given to a certain elementary teacher or teachers when an individual attains a certain high level of success. For author, Lisa Wingate, it was her very special first grade teacher in Northboro, Massachusetts, named Mrs. Krackhardt. She saw talent in a shy little girl who had just transferred into her class. She read Lisa's stories to the class, and Lisa was hooked on the attention of an audience.

Even though writing was always a career goal, Lisa Wingate had other priorities to also accomplish. She decided to wait to pursue her writing career in earnest until she had graduated college, gotten married, held a position as a journalist and technical writer, and had children. She had wanted girls, but got two boys instead, and was immediately in love with each one.

One day when the first Wingate baby was small, Lisa's grandmother came for an extended stay visit. During that visit, her grandmother was sitting with the baby, when she began to tell Lisa the story of her life. They had interrupted the planting of flower beds to go inside to quiet the baby. It was that conversation that inspired Wingate to write the story, "Time for Tending Roses", which turned into her first mainstream novel, Tending Roses.

Today, Tending Roses, was the first of several books inspired by life and written during stolen moments of a busy mom, wife, and writer. She has said.......who knew all of that would come from a quiet afternoon with grandma and an unfinished flower bed?

Even though Tending Roses is her sentimental favorite, Lisa has treasured every book because they always begin with an inspiration from life, and she never knows where that inspiration will lead her in story.

The best thing an aspiring author can hear from a reader of their work is.......I wonder what happens next?

Another great read. This author writes a lot like Kristen Hannah in the way she uses character development and life relationships to develop the plot. There were a lot of profound quotes that helped me think through the choices I have made in my life. The main character is a very successful architec......more

This was the second in the Moses Lake inspirational series. It was a pretty predictable and easy read which was nice for listening to while driving and getting ready for camp. The main character did grow and learn. She is an architect who’s a workaholic come back to a place she lived for a few years......more

I really enjoyed this book. I got a bit frustrated in the middle because the lady didn't press hard enough at times for answers, especially when she thought her brother was deep into trouble, but in the. End you know why no one would answer her questions. So it was an enjoyable read except that I wa......more

This is the third book I've read in the series, (I read them out of order) and it's my favorite so far. The writing is wonderful, and there's a bit of mystery to keep the pages turning. I love the growth journey that the heroine takes.......more
