Synopsis

Unabridged version with stage directions! Hamlet is one of the most influential and psychologically profound works in world literature. In this complete and unabridged audiobook edition, William Shakespeare's great tragedy unfolds in its full dramatic richness—performed in English by a single narrator, with all stage directions included and every character clearly announced before speaking. After the sudden death of the King of Denmark, Prince Hamlet returns home to find his mother remarried to his uncle Claudius, who has claimed the throne. When the ghost of Hamlet's father reveals that he was murdered, Hamlet is drawn into a dangerous pursuit of truth and revenge. Torn between action and doubt, reason and despair, he descends into a world of deception, betrayal, madness, and mortality. From the famous "To be, or not to be" soliloquy to the play's tragic conclusion, Hamlet explores timeless questions of conscience, identity, grief, and the human condition. Shakespeare's language combines philosophical depth with emotional intensity, making the drama as compelling today as it was four centuries ago. The inclusion of stage directions offers listeners a fuller theatrical experience, allowing scenes and movements to emerge vividly in the imagination. The clear identification of characters before each speech enhances orientation and preserves the dramatic structure of the original play. William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon and is widely regarded as the greatest playwright in the English language. As an actor, poet, and shareholder in a London theatre company, he wrote dramas that continue to shape literature and performance around the world. His tragedies, comedies, and histories remain celebrated for their poetic brilliance and unparalleled understanding of human nature. Shakespeare died in 1616, leaving behind a body of work that has become a cornerstone of world culture. This unabridged audiobook of Hamlet offers a powerful encounter with Shakespeare's masterpiece—complete, immersive, and profoundly human.

About William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was born in April 1564 in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon, on England’s Avon River. When he was eighteen, he married Anne Hathaway. The couple had three children—an older daughter Susanna and twins, Judith and Hamnet. Hamnet, Shakespeare’s only son, died in childhood. The bulk of Shakespeare’s working life was spent in the theater world of London, where he established himself professionally by the early 1590s. He enjoyed success not only as a playwright and poet, but also as an actor and shareholder in an acting company. Although some think that sometime between 1610 and 1613 Shakespeare retired from the theater and returned home to Stratford, where he died in 1616, others believe that he may have continued to work in London until close to his death.
