Synopsis

Becoming a family will take patience, humor, a little bit of wine and a whole lot of love

After life knocked Delaney Holbrook sideways, she didn’t get down—she got busy. She went back to school, determined to reinvent herself. She even swore off men in suits. But then one particular man in one very fine suit proves too tempting to resist—Malcolm Carlesso, CEO of a family-owned food company. Malcolm’s life has been complicated by the arrival of two half sisters he’s never met…and isn’t sure he wants around. How can Delaney trust a man who keeps his own sisters at such a distance?

Alone in the world, Callie Smith never expected to find a family. Suddenly she’s living in a house the size of a small country with her stuffy and aloof new brother and streetwise sister, wondering whether this place—and these people—will ever feel like home. Just as she’s beginning to get settled, a new opportunity presents itself, daring her to dream of more…until her past threatens to take it all away.

Friends brought together by chance, Delaney and Callie will soon discover the closest families are bonded by choice—not by blood—in this uplifting story from the consistently unputdownable Susan Mallery.

About Susan Mallery

Author Susan Mallery is a New York Times best-selling author, and has written more than 80 Harlequin and Silhouette romance books, and a number of full-length romance novels. Unbelievably, she began writing in this genre after taking a class offered st a local community center entitled, "How to Write a Romance Novel". It seems almost too simplistic to believe. She now has more than 25 million books sold worldwide. She is known for creating characters who are as familiar as the people next door. They are usually involved in emotional, funny situations that the reader can easily identify with in their own lives.

Susan Mallery grew up in southern California, and admits to moving so many times that her friends used a pencil so her address could be easily changed. She is very much interested in animals and their well-being, so she incorporates various pets in her stories. Mallery's books have been translated into 28 languages. She lives in Washington state with her husband, two cats, and a small poodle who, as she describes it, "has delusions of grandeur".

An interesting side Story is that her friend, author Debbie Macomber gave her a bottle of champagne to open when she had her first New York Times #1 selling novel. In August 2015, she finally made the #1 list with her novel, Thrill Me, which debuted at the #1 spot. Mallery opened the champagne the night she found out the news, and raised a toast to Debbie and to her great readers who helped her reach that goal.

Susan Mallery always promises another year of happy books, and wishes her fans happy reading!

Favorite Quotes: He gave her a smile that would have melted a frozen planet. She agreed with generous —he was that. As for kind, well, he was growing on her. Like the famous Seattle moss, she thought with a smile. I’d offer to let you borrow one of mine, but you’re what, twenty pounds lighter, two inc......more

I love the idea behind this story, I can’t imagine finding out I had not one, but two half siblings as an adult. How hard would it be to form a familial bond later in life? Difficult I’m quite sure, especially when every one of the siblings comes from a completely different background. Malcolm is th......more

Finding out you have two other siblings and have a wealthy grandfather definitely was overwhelming news for Callie and had been very overwhelming for Keira two months ago. Their step brother, Malcolm, had been with his grandfather since he was twelve and was used to the lifestyle and family. Malcolm......more

This is my 3rd book by Susan Mallery and it’s the third book of hers I’ve given 3 stars. It started really good but then it started to drag about 3/4 in with only 1/4 left. It was good. Not a great book, just good.......more

LOVED IT! Say what you will about the genre label "women's fiction", but it's how I instinctively label this one - otherwise, I'd have to say "contemporary sweet/cozy surprisingly complex multi-storyline family fiction with romantic elements". I mean, yes, that second one is more descriptive, but th......more
