About Pete Buttigieg

Pete Buttigieg served as the nineteenth United States Secretary of Transportation from 2021 to 2025. During his tenure, he oversaw historic investments in American infrastructure, transportation safety, and technology. Previously, Buttigieg served two terms as mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. A veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2014. Buttigieg is a graduate of Harvard University and studied philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He is the bestselling author of Shortest Way Home and Trust. Buttigieg lives in northern Michigan with his husband, Chasten, their two children, and their dog, Buddy.
