Synopsis

#1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth pulls from Slavic folklore to explore family, duty, and what it means to be a monster in this sequel to the USA Today bestselling novella When Among Crows. This program features multicast narration.

"The second volume of Roth's Curse Bearer duology requires the highly skilled quartet of narrators to present concepts based on Slavic folklore, often while speaking in Polish accents and employing foreign terms. Happily, the four narrators clear those hurdles, making for a smooth listening experience." — AudioFile

A funeral. A heist. A desperate mission.

When Dymitr is called back to the old country for the empty night, a funeral rite intended to keep evil at bay, it's the perfect opportunity for him to get his hands on his family's most guarded relic—a book of curses that could satisfy the debt he owes legendary witch Baba Jaga. But first he'll have to survive a night with his dangerous, monster-hunting kin.

As the sun sets, the line between enemies and allies becomes razor-thin, and Dymitr’s new loyalties are pushed to their breaking point.

Family gatherings can be brutal. Dymitr’s might just be fatal.

About Veronica Roth

American author, Veronica Roth, is best known for her trilogy of Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant. She wrote the first of the trilogy, Divergent, when she was still a student at Northwestern University, with the publishing rights sold before she even graduated college. The film rights were sold before the novel was published in April 2011. Roth was off to a quick flying start with her career as a novelist as she finished her final year of creative writing.

Within a few years, the trilogy was sold to Summit Entertainment, where Lions- gate released all three in the Divergent Trilogy, which included the final chapter, Allegiant being divided into two Parts. Then, Author Roth wrote a series of short stories based on the Divergent main character, Tobias Eaton's point of view. There were four short stories titled: The Transfer, The Initiate, The Son, and The Traitor. The short stories were published in several forms.

I really enjoyed When Among Crows when I read it last year, so I went into To Clutch a Razor expecting to also enjoy it. What I did not expect was to be so thoroughly blown away by this book. Just finished To Clutch a Razor and wow—this one cuts deep. If When Among Crows was sharp and eerie, this sequel is even darker, digging into family, duty, and all the tangled mess in between. We’ve got a funeral, a cursed book, Dymitr stuck with his very intense monster-hunting relatives, and Baba J......more

5 stars ✨ Gagged. Breathless. Let me say something I rarely say: this was perfection. I am so deeply obsessed with this that I kind of want to cry about it being so short. I am actually physically craving to read more of this and it’s just… over. (Please tell me there will be a book three, Veronica!......more
