About D. H. Lawrence
D. H. Lawrence (1885–1930) was an English novelist, poet, travel writer, and essayist. Lawrence was born and grew up in the mining village of Eastwood, in the English East Midlands, where many of his novels and stories are set. Later in life he travelled the world with his wife and muse, Frieda, producing work set in Italy, Australia, Mexico, and the United States. Persecuted and misrepresented during his lifetime for his frank and open portrayals of sexuality, Lawrence is now a major figure in early twentieth-century English literature.
