Synopsis

Move into the Present Room and Enjoy Your Life

“The Three Rooms is a heartfelt seminal text which addresses self-understanding in spatial and temporal terms, simple enough for a child to understand, yet deep enough to awaken a true spiritual seeker.”
—Dr. Michael R. Cunningham, Chancellor, National University System

Most of us are sleepwalking, focusing on the physical world when we should be paying attention to our inner selves, and to being in the present. The Three Rooms will help readers awaken and align with their Higher Self. The book uses the metaphor of rooms to represent places our thoughts go: backwards to the Past Room, forward to the Future Room, or now in the Present Room. In the Present Room, there are no regrets of the past or fears of the future; it is the ideal state “where we can find joy, peace, acceptance, and compassion,” among other positive emotions. That is where we are meant to be.

About Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy stepped away from the corporate world after thirty-three years to write the consciousness-minded book The Three Rooms. He still serves on multiple boards, but writing continues to be a passion of his. His primary goal is to encourage younger generations of readers, of which his three children belong, to be consciously aware of what they think and how they feel. That is the path for them to become creators, and not just participants, of their future. Born and raised on Long Island, NY, Murphy still lives there with his wife and his daughter.

I’ve been practicing Mindfulness for a while now and find it very helpful in quieting down my thoughts. Yet I still too often find myself thinking of unhappy past events or feeling fear about the future. I’ve been looking into the Law of Attraction and was very happy to win this book in a Goodreads......more

The book seemed somewhat repetitive and it was difficult for me to remain engaged during the references to religion. However, it was a great reminder about the importance of monitoring one's thoughts, and I liked the three room concept. I learned that I often find myself in the future room (stressed......more

Did not finish. While the concept is very good, the actual presentation is not. The book is so full of pop culture references taken from movies, sports, politicians, musicians, religious leaders, authors, etc. that the flow of the book is constantly interrupted. Katy Perry and Oprah? Really?......more
