Synopsis

Joe has the power. The question is, can he hold on to it?

The malevolent kingdom of the night is now aware of his presence. A confrontation is guaranteed, just as Rook intended.

Joe provides freedom to the oppressed and enslaved. They flock to his banner. His nine–to–five job is gone forever, for a ruler of a kingdom never sleeps.

He believes this magical world is a game designed for fun, with no real consequences, but he couldn't be more wrong. His AI partner is starting to see this new reality for what it is.

Will Joe, in his ignorance, continue to defeat every opponent? Or, in order to survive, must he be awakened?

Someone's going to die the final death, there's no way around that. Only who?

About Kip Terrington

Kip Terrington is an enthusiast of all things technological, neurobiological, and psychological. He started college as a Communication major with a concentration in Acting, but eventually realized biology interested him more. Out of college, he got a job at the VA in the field of neurobiology and quickly rose to the rank of senior technician. During his time at the VA, he was blessed to work with a number of gifted neurologists and neurobiologists.

When working in brain science, one can only be humbled by the complexity and elegance that makes up even the least important cells in the brain. This experience was one Kip will forever be grateful for. At that point, Kip's career took a fateful turn. With the birth of his first child, Kip left his job and became a full time stay-at-home dad. It did not take long for Kip to realize that this new job could be just as complex and fulfilling as assisting in brain surgery.

As an ENFP, Kip continues to have an unquenchable thirst for multiple avenues of knowledge. The more books and research articles he absorbs the more excited he becomes about how the universe is put together-galactically, molecularly, and even relationally. As a stay-at-home dad, with an expertise in pillow fort construction, Kip does not take himself too seriously. Kip married his lovely wife right out of college in 2003 and is one of the lucky few to marry up. They have two sons and they all camp together in the mountains as often as they can.

Really enjoyed this book I have really enjoyed this series from the beginning but the fact that the manic character still thought he was in a game was grating on me and in the previous book I almost gave up on the series. I gave it one last Chance with this book and thank the gods the MC finally sees......more

Another top-notch fun book in this series. What I liked: Rule consistency throughout the book. The character may have thought outside the box, but he never thought outside of a consistent universe. Creative solutions. Even when our hero is accidentally given a superduper weapon, some plot element occur......more

Let's see what the power of delusion can do. I like the plot and goal this story has, but the implementation is very jarring. Sometimes it feels like I'm experiencing a fever dream, with how things turn out. I don't know if I will pick up the sequel or not, but I'm sure (view spoiler)[that the twenty sided dice will (hide spoiler)]......more

I really enjoyed this story. Interesting premise and fun twists to the plot along the way. Clean with almost no swearing. My only warning is that the author does dive into the topic of slaves who have been tortured. It's not horrific in detail but it is an adult level topic - not necessarily appropr......more

I really enjoyed this book. I just wish the next one was written. It has been more than two years since this book was released. Because of that, I thought this series was a trilogy, but the story in this one sets up the series to have more books. I loved the series though. It was really fun and well......more
