This was a good old fashioned soap opera taking place mostly in Ireland around the 1930s and 40s. This is the third book in the Deverill Chronicles and while it can be read as a standalone novel, I highly recommend reading the other books first. This is the last in a trilogy. This book didn't grab me as much as the first two. It took me a while to get into it and I found it a bit slow at the start.
