Synopsis

Private investigators Kit Comfort and Henry Richman become entangled in L.A.'s post-WWII occult trade when they're hired to find Lillian, a prominent doctor's estranged wife, and her mesmerizing "spirit" lover, Tashin. The detectives' hunt leads to a Hollywood cult run by a charismatic guru and supported by the operator of a séance racket. To infiltrate the cult, Kit, fresh from her training in judo and dirty fighting, poses as a wealthy recruit, while Henry investigates the séance circuit and its grift on the grief-stricken. Assisting the pair are Luca, Kit's psychiatrist lover, and her combat veteran brother, Stanley.Together, they start to zero in on Lillian and Tashin, but as danger and intrigue intensify, the detectives realize that nothing is as it seems and nothing, including murder, is off the table. Surviving the spirit trade will take all of their cunning and just a bit of Lady Fortuna luck.
