“A suspenseful and fascinating glimpse into a Mexican-American world.” Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
“A fascinating story with a strong protagonist and a glimpse at some unique aspects of traditional Mexican culture.” Foreword Reviews
“Frankie Corzo’s narration vividly brings the characters to life in this debut novel about family secrets and Hispanic heritage…Corzo’s vocal characterizations are well developed, and her accent is excellent as she portrays bewildered Martha and her Spanish-speaking grandmother and kin.
