Synopsis

What if the most intense drama unfolded without a single word being spoken? In “Psychology” by Katherine Mansfield, two former lovers meet again in a quiet drawing room, where politeness masks longing, hesitation, and unspoken desire. Every pause, every gesture, every carefully chosen word becomes charged with meaning as memory and emotion press against the fragile calm of the present moment. Beneath the surface of casual conversation, old feelings stir - regret, attraction, and the ache of what was never fully said. With remarkable subtlety, Mansfield explores the invisible tension between closeness and distance, revealing how much of love lives not in actions, but in thought. Her precise, luminous prose captures the complexity of human connection and the silent battles we fight within ourselves. Press play and step into one of Mansfield’s most refined psychological stories - where the quietest moments speak the loudest, and everything that matters remains just beneath the surface.

About Katherine Mansfield

Katherine Mansfield (1888–1923) was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and settled in Europe to finish her education. She published her first short fiction in The New Age, then in Rhythm, whose editor, the British writer and critic John Middleton Murry, she soon married. Her writing contributed to the development of the stream of consciousness technique and to the modernist use of multiple viewpoints, and her style has had a powerful influence on subsequent writers in the same genre.
