Synopsis
On the morning of his twenty-first birthday, Anodos opens an ancient secretary desk and unwittingly unlocks a portal to Fairy Land. Suddenly, his waking life is washed away by a mystical river, and he is thrust into a sprawling, surreal wilderness. Here, the flora and fauna are sentient, and beauty is inextricably tangled with mortal danger. Betrayed by the hollow Alder-maiden and hunted by the vampiric, shape-shifting Ash-tree, Anodos must navigate enchanted forests, brave the curse of an unshakable shadow demon, and awaken a beautiful woman trapped in alabaster marble. With a mysterious Red Knight crossing his path and a landscape that tests his very soul, Anodos must discover if he can survive the temptations of a realm that seeks to consume him body and spirit.
Why you will love this: As a foundational pillar of the Fantasy genre, this dark, allegorical quest weaves epic portal fantasy elements with timeless mythological tropes. Fans of atmospheric world-building, romantic fairy tales, gothic settings, and deeply psychological hero journeys will be swept away by its poetic prose and dreamlike horror.
