About Emmeline Pankhurst
Emmeline Pankhurst (1858–1928) was a leading British suffragette. She has been named one of the ‘100 Most Important People of the Twentieth Century’ by Time, and was the founder of the Women’s Social and Political Union (later, the Women’s Party). Pankhurst was a bold activist and political agitator who received multiple prison sentences in her fight for women’s rights.
