P. L. Travers (1899–1996) was a drama critic, travel essayist, reviewer, lecturer, and author of the Mary Poppins books. She wrote several other books for adults and children, but it is for the character of Mary Poppins that she is best remembered.
Sophie Thompson, sister of Academy Award–winning actress Emma Thompson, trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She has worked in film, television, theater, and radio, and has narrated a number of audiobooks. Her film credits include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; Eat, Pray, Love; and Gosford Park, among others.
It's hard to review books you really love. We loved this story, we loved the characters and the ideas. In fact, I think my first review might have been colored a little by having read this one too, since I wrote it after reading both. Some of th......more
This book is between a 4.25 and 4.5 rating for me. Oddly enough I enjoyed this sequel more than the first book. When I read the first book I had no idea what to expect and was really surprised by what I read though I still enjoyed it. This time I was more familiar with Travers’s version of Mary Popp......more
