To a great extent, I agree with the views expressed by Michael Hasse. The author has entered into the world of theory more than he could have ideally done. I think this is a very good book, in that it achieves exactly what it sets out to do: offer a basic and readable introduction to the topic at hand, literary theory. Of course, the scope of its breadth comes at the expense of depth. You cannot explain Lacan or structuralist narratology in a few pages......more
