Synopsis

With her beloved mother gone, her twin sister about to be married, and no hint of Mr. Right on the horizon, Josie Dupre is lonesome. Luckily, she has her booming New Orleans catering business to keep her busy and her fluffy white dog, Rosie, to keep her company...until an obnoxious Boxer brazenly captures Rosie's undying devotion. Even worse, the budding romance puts Josie in close proximity to the dog's owner - sexy love 'em and leave 'em Cajun playboy Paul Brouillette.

About Fern Michaels

Self-described as someone who can scribble notes and tell great stories, author Fern Michaels, aka Mary Ruth Kuczkir, is a very prolific writer having written 147 books, with 90 being on the New York Times best sellers list. She was born in Pennsylvania, coming into this world as "a dinky little thing", as her father called her. She spent the early part of her adult life becoming a wife and mother of five children. After her children were grown, she separated from her husband, who was a very negative person, and began putting pen to paper to begin her writing career. She had always loved books, and writing one seemed to be the best chance for her to make her own way through the rest of her life. Her first manuscript was not published, but the second attempt was, and so began her illustrious career.

Her successful career allowed her to put all five children through college, on her own, which she claims is one of her most proud accomplishments. She says that when all is considered, family is the most important thing. Fern also bought a beautiful old (300 year old) plantation in South Carolina, where she still lives today. Her grandmother gave her very sage advice many years ago, which she lives by today.......when God is good to you, you have to give back. She developed the Fern Michaels Foundation which grants four scholarships to deserving students. She also opened a pre-school and day care center for single moms who are having a hard time supporting their family.

The quote that best describes is a Dutch saying.......If you can't whistle on your way to work, you don't belong in that job. She follows by saying, "I whistle all day long".

Most of it envolves people chasing after their dogs. The two dogs like each other, so the dog's owners fall in love. There's a touch of supernatural stuff about this too...her dead mother's perfume can be smelled sometimes. To me, this book was trying to be too many things, and didn't suceed with an......more

Fern Michaels has been a bestselling romance author for decades, and I hadn't read a single one of her books. With Listen to Your Heart, I can now say I have read one of her books. I don't expect that number to increase any time soon. Listen to Your Heart is set in a pre-Hurricane Katrina New......more

Not one of Fern Michael's best effor but it is an okay read. Josie and Kitty Depre are twins who live in New Orleans and they have been left a catering business by their parents. Kitty is the cook and Josie does the rest as she cannot cook. Kitty is about to get married and Josie realises that she be......more

Although written in the early 1990s, the main character, Josie, and her twin sister, Kitty, both read like "modern 1970s women." Seriously submissive and rather naïve. Josie meets Paul when their dogs, Rosie and Zip, run into each other and immediately fall in love (the dogs, not the people). In wor......more
