About Dr. Amrutur V. Srinivasan

Dr. Amrutur V. Srinivasan, born in India, is primary founder and first president of the Connecticut Valley Hindu Temple Society. He has functioned as a Hindu priest performing a wide variety of pujas (worships), weddings, and other ceremonies since 1971. A popular writer and speaker, Dr. Srinivasan has published/presented numerous papers on a variety of cultural, social and religious issues in the U.S. and India. He has given courses on the classical literature of India at the University of Connecticut and Wesleyan University.

Decent book with some notable issues: i. no discussion of Hinduism in Mauritius, and Cambodia; ii. too much emphasis on Vivekananda, iii. some retarded claims about yoga, including an anecdote about a practitioner who allegedly could move objects without physical contact using yogic powers (p.327).......more
