I had a tough time putting this book down. Elen is not your usual heroine. She is given her father's lands and home to run even though she is female. She is fair and just and caring. I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Elen and Munro but their siblings left a lot to be desired. That is what made this book so successful, though.
