Synopsis

Can Magnus rescue all of his loved ones before supernatural or mundane hunters either one find him?

One set wants the "Chosen Warrior" on a dissecting table, others want to silence him to keep their own secrets. And his divinely tempestuous and vengeful ex-lover, the Valkyrie Kara, has her own sadistic amusements in mind. Maybe his newest allies can make the difference. Maybe he can be tough enough, fast enough, and lucky enough to pull it all off. And maybe somewhere in his confused memories are the keys to getting out of this mess. Or maybe he's just nuttier than aunt Sally's pecan pie. Good thing he's tougher than her roast beef.

About Steve Curry

Steve Curry is a fledgling author just beginning to use a wide spread of experiences and careers. His current forays into writing are urban fantasy infused with culinary tidbits from a decade as a Le Cordon Bleu chef. Military weapons and protocols plus realistic medical and physical descriptions abound from his work with Uncle Sam's Army NBC branch and time as a licensed respiratory therapist in ICUs across the nation. Toss in lots of mythology, new age religion, supernatural goodness, and real world history along with a soupcon of Jim Butcher's humor, and a few pinches of Robert Parker's character building traits to see how he'll entertain you. He currently resides in West Texas under the management of a yellow hound dog with claims on most of a large bed. Others in the hierarchy are an imperial princess and rainbow unicorn riding granddaughter, his wife, the imperial queen and mistress of eyerolls, and an uncountable horde of invading mongrel cats.

Very entertaining series Magnus and his friends are not your typical bar security and clients. Loads of humor, silly puns, interesting bits of history and mythology and a rollicking good story make these books a lot of fun. A little more time with an editor/proofreader would be nice. Well, that was... a book. Freke Wyrd Voodoo tries to ride the coattails of its stronger predecessors but ends up stumbling into mediocrity with style. The setup had potential—quirky magic, familiar faces, the usual chaos—but somewhere along the way, it lost its spark. And the ending? Like being prom......more

Again, it's good but... The author credits his proofreaders in the acknowledgement. If I were then I'd make him remove my name. So so many "there/their discreet/discreet your/you're" and similar mistakes just spoil it. I remember thinking book 1 needed some proper editing, and although two and three......more
