Synopsis

New York Times best-selling author Lisa Jackson crafts the breathtaking tale of a woman haunted by disaster, unable to escape the ghosts of her past. When she was only 16, Cassidy Buchanan fell for the 19-year-old bad boy in town, Brig McKenzie-who'd had his share of run-ins with both the law and the local women. Then a terrible fire killed Cassidy's sister, and Brig was the chief suspect. Seventeen years later, an eerily similar fire seriously injures Cassidy's husband Chase, who happens to be Brig's brother. With the earlier fire still an open case, suspicion turns to Cassidy, the only person connected to both tragedies.

About Lisa Jackson

Born in Oregon in 1952, American author, Lisa Jackson, began her career in 1983 with her book, The Twist of Fate, and is still presently writing. She is a number one author on The New York Times bestselling list, writing more than 85 published novels. (She also uses the pseudonym of Susan Lynn Crose.)

As with many authors, Lisa began writing when she was a struggling mother, out of necessity to put food on the table. At that time, she probably did not realize that she would end up with a writing career putting her neck deep in romantic, murder mysteries. Lisa is best known for taking her readers to "the edge of sanity...... and back". Dangerous secrets, deadly passions, lies, clues, personal relationships.......all intertwined to create the terror and madness that can exist in the world.

Lisa is now a typical spoiling grandmother who loves her grandchildren and her little pug dog named Jackie-O-No. She loves old rock and roll, pop, and new country music. She leads a pretty quiet, fulfilling life in her native state of Oregon.......time with family, walks with her sister (also an author), coffee, crossword puzzles and great TV.

I liked the setting as well. The country is one setting that I love when filled with intrigue, suspense and suspiciou......more

I loved this book! It is my favorite book by Lisa Jackson. I enjoyed the relationship she built between her characters and the attraction. The twist at the end had me on the edge of my seat. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down.......more

This author has a fixation on ugly family situations. This book no different but a little more twisted. However, I found the twisted tale entertaining. Though I guessed who done it at the first mysterious POV. Sure the author made me second guess myself but I always came back to my first guess and I......more

I can give no more than 2.25 stars & even with this I think I'm maybe being charitable here. FUCK OH FUCK, SUCH SICKOS! Almost every fucking character in this book seems that they should be in prolonged psychotherapy like seriously long for a decade or 2. And yeah! That's the only reason I think I ga......more
