With a reputation as a reformer, Mr. Hockey helped shape the modern financial system in Australia and had a major hand in the formation of industry policy, from tourism and hospitality to health and welfare. In 2014, Mr. Hockey chaired the highly successful G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings. He initiated major infrastructure initiatives ranging from the implementation of asset recycling financing to the creation of the G20 Infrastructure Hub. He first entered Parliament in 1996 as the Member for North Sydney and spent more than sixteen years on the front bench. Over the course of his parliamentary career, Mr. Hockey served as a Minister in a number of different portfolios including Financial Services, Small Business and Tourism, Human Services and Employment and Workplace Relations.Mr. Hockey has served as a banking and finance lawyer with a major Australian law firm. He graduated from the University of Sydney with Bachelor degrees in Arts and Law. Mr. Hockey is married to Ms. Melissa Babbage, a company director and former investment banker. They have three young children, Xavier, Adelaide and Ignatius
Leo Shanahan is a journalist, writer and corporate consultant, and has most recently held positions as the media editor of The Australian and chief business reporter for Sky News. Leo is a former senior reporter for The Australian and The Age newspapers in Sydney, Melbourne and the Canberra Parliamentary Press Gallery. He has interviewed the nation's leading CEOs and politicians, and has worked on assignments in Asia, the Middle East, North America and Europe. Leo is an award winning journalist, including recipient of the News Award for Scoop of the Year, twice nominated for the Walkley Award for business journalist of the year and won the National Press Club Financial Journalism for global and economic reporting. He has also served as Communications Director for one of the world's premier campaign and communications consultancies C T Group. He holds a law degree and an arts degree with honours from the Australian National University. Leo lives in Sydney with his partner and son.

I admittedly did not look at Joe Hockey with much anticipation whilst he was in politics. But reading this book changed my perception of him - surprisingly for the better. There is a bit of life set up for him then it is solidly all about what it was like to be Ambassador to the USA under three presidents including Trump.
