Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430) was a Romanized Berber philosopher and theologian. A Latin church father, he is one of the most important figures in the development of Western Christianity. He is best known for writing his Confessions.
I suspect most people today would not imagine that they have much in common with a Christian saint who lived over 1500 years ago.
