Synopsis

“Great romantic thriller. Gritty, realistic, and yet deeply romantic.” — New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz. Evidence that a notorious criminal is hiding out in a small, seaside town in rural Maine leads to an FBI agent going undercover in this new Romantic Thriller from New York Times bestselling author Toni Anderson, narrated by Eric G. Dove. Grady Steel returns to the insular community of Deception Cove, Maine, where he spent his troubled youth unfairly labeled the town’s bad boy. Now a member of the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team, Grady is on a risky undercover mission, hunting one of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives. Recovering from a broken marriage, Brynn Webster comes home to the sleepy small town—where nothing ever happens—to help her parents run their seaside cafe during her mother’s illness. After diving into the frigid waters of the winter harbor to rescue a dead man, Brynn begins to realize that the ocean isn’t the only place swirling with dangerous undercurrents. Grady befriends the pretty manager of the local cafe in an effort to unearth the town’s closely guarded secrets. Deceiving Brynn isn’t easy, though, especially when he starts to fall for her. Then, when decades-old crimes lead to modern-day murder, Grady’s mission becomes a race against time as he strives to catch a ruthless killer—before Brynn becomes the next victim.

This is the 18th book by Jennings I have read in the last few years. I believe I have read all her fiction that is in print. And this is an excellent follow up to Heat Wave - Paradise Café Book 1, and November Rain Book 2. We are dropped back into a familiar Toronto, not terribly long after the Will......more

It consists of our heroine from Heat Wave and November Rain, Charlotte Frayne, running all over 1936 Toronto to help out Stephen Lucas, a friend of her boss, who has escaped Germany and the Nazis therei......more

I decided to read this third installment of the Paradise Café Mysteries. I know a fourth book is planned for next year, but this will be the last one I read. It is December 1936. As foreshadowed in November Rain, Charlotte Frayne’s boss, has brought a Jewish refugee from Germany to Canada. Charlotte......more

What a treat it is to find a mystery series based in Toronto! While I haven’t lived there for a very long time, I have roots in the city and was delighted to find this mystery series. Cold Snap is the third in author Maureen Jennings’ series of “Paradise Café” mysteries. The series takes place betwe......more
