This is an AMAZING story that was almost completely lost! Helga and her daughter WALK across the United States in 1896 in order to win $10,000 to pay their mortgage and save their farm. I was intrigued by the title and synopsis of this book. As it turned out, it was my own little endurance journey to finish it, but the interesting bits made the high-school-history-report style of the writing tolerable.
