Synopsis

After recording the last interview of a month-long media extravaganza orchestrated by the brass, NYPD Detectives Chiara Corelli and P. J. Parker are hoping for time out of the spotlight working cold cases and/or solving low profile murders. But the brutal murder of Alessandra Moreau, a singer on track to becoming a superstar, in the living room of New York State Senator Leigh Drayman, a trans woman, is anything but.

Besides Drayman, only Moreau's twin sister and her wife knew she was a trans woman, so Corelli and Parker focus their attention on three suspects—the agent/manager stealing from her, a man from her attorney's office who assaulted her, and H, a rejected lover who she fears.

And when they find thirteen trans women murdered in exactly the manner as Moreau in just over two years, their focus changes and they enlist the senator's help to get the NYPD to set up a task force.

With the murder of two more trans women in New York City, the killer seems to be taunting them. But they are no closer to finding him then they were after Moreau was murdered.

As they dig deeper into those early murders, they eliminate suspects and begin to focus on the one with motive, means, and opportunity.

About Catherine Maiorisi

Catherine Maiorisi lives in New York City and often writes under the watchful eye of Edgar Allan Poe, in Edgar's Cafe near the apartment she shares with her partner, now wife, of thirty-nine years.

In the seventies and eighties while working in corporate technology, then running her own technology consulting company, Catherine moaned to her artistic friends that she was the only lesbian in New York City who wasn't creative, the only one without the imagination or the talent to write poetry or novels, play the guitar, act, or sing.

Since she found her imagination, writing has been like meditating for Catherine and it is what she most loves to do. But she also reads voraciously, loves to cook, especially Italian, and enjoys hanging out with her wife of thirty-nine years and friends.

When she wrote a short story to create the backstory for the love interest in her two unpublished NYPD Detective Chiara Corelli mysteries, Catherine had never read any romance and hadn't considered writing it. To her surprise, "The Fan Club" turned out to be a romance and was included in the Best Lesbian Romance of 2014, edited by Radclyffe.

Another surprise was hearing the voices of two characters, Andrea and Darcy, chatting in her head every night, making it difficult to sleep. Reassured by her wife that she wasn't losing it, Catherine paid attention and those conversations led to her first romance novel, Matters of the Heart.

Catherine has also had two mystery short stories published in the Murder New York Style anthologies, "Justice for All" in Fresh Slices and "Murder Italian Style" in Family Matters.

An active member of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America, Catherine is also a member of Romance Writers of America and Rainbow Romance Writers.

Excellent trilogy of books. Would recommend this to anyone that takes an interest in the Hundred Years War. The trilogy follows a Vintenar over the 10 or so years between landing in France for the Crecy campaign and the Black Prince's victory at Poitiers. Berenger Fripper is the main character and,......more

Blood of the Innocence : The Vintener Trilogy – This is the last in the 'trilogy.' While a great read and possible to read as a 'stand alone,' I would recommend reading the titles sequentially if you can. Like the preceding titles (Fields of Glory and Blood on the Sand), they are not for the 'faint......more

Great story, truly hate to see it end, as well as the Vintener trilogy finished. Compelling stories, engaging subplots, and detailed characters. Wonderful to watch the change of Berenger Fripper through each book. From dutiful soldier to exhausted veteran, yearning for peace & tranquility. Changed b......more
