But Ivory is not alone. Cabrina’s closest friends have also seen a similar apparition, and as they toy with occult possibilities, they begin to unravel the truth behind Cabrina’s death.Because Cape Morning isn’t a ghost town, but a town filled with ghosts, and Ivory is about to discover just what happens when you let one in.

About Jeremy Carlisle Parker

Jeremy Carlisle Parker is an actor working in New York City. Her love of narration began when she was a little girl-demanding that her father read Dr. Seuss every night, using only his best character voices. Books have been some of her best friends since childhood-in fact, she still holds the first-grade class record for most books read in an academic year at 650! Being a trained opera singer and actor, narration is the perfect means to marry her passion for performance and lifelong love of books. Jeremy is proudly queer and deeply committed to amplifying queer voices in all aspects of her creative life when possible. She holds a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and artist diploma from the esteemed University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA. When Jeremy isn't in the booth, you can find her tie-dying t-shirts in her kitchen sink while listening to true crime podcasts and catching up on RuPaul's Drag Race.

About Em Grosland

Em Grosland (he/they/she) is a transgender, nonbinary actor and artist with over 50 books under their belt. They love giving voice to powerful trans boys and men, rebellious tomboys, nonbinary humans and fantastical creatures, sapphic folks falling in love, and any and all books that challenge late-stage capitalism or highlight the joy and strength of marginalized folks.Em was lucky enough to be read to by their mother, so they narrate from the beliefs that grown-ups and kids all benefit from storytelling and that nothing can replace the human voice. What defined humanity as being a culture instead of a pack was when the first storyteller decided to share. They love finding the very specific life of each character through subtle (and occasionally not so subtle) vocal qualities.Em truly enjoys performing a story more than simply reading it. They pay very close attention to the full arc of the story and the ways in which the character and the narrator learn and grow from the beginning to the end.

**Outlier Alert** I so wanted to love this book. It's a big one, coming in at 447 pages and at times it felt way too long to me. This book has a lot going on between the pages and the central mystery is what really happened to Cabrina Brite. I found this book to be raw, dark, intense, and deep. This......more

3.0 Stars Video Review [URL not allowed] This is one of those cases when I really wanted to love this book. Admittedly, I have been hit or miss with this author, but their hits have become all time favourite. In comparison to some of their previous books, this one is much less “weird” and p......more

My feelings are hurt, I should of known they would be, one does not simply read Hailey Piper and leave with their feelings intact, no one leaves unscathed or not forever changed, this was a carnivorous book that ate my own heart and spat it back out. A brutal yet beautiful exploration of life, death,......more

Goodreads review by Horror on August 03, 2024

This is a viscerally grotesque, twisted, and disturbingly heart breaking novel about identity and some of the most terrifying "vampires" you'll ever read about. Unapologetically queer and deliciously disgusting, this story follows Ivory who happens to be on the beach one morning when the body of a t......more

This is a ghost story. This is a vampire tale. It's all of that, none of that. This isn't a helpful review. If you're a Hailey Piper reader, you know you're getting brutality between the pages, albeit one infused with a poetic beauty that makes one think, the world is a shit place, but maybe not all the......more
