AudiobooksNow Adds Recorded Books to its Digital Audiobook Download and Streaming Service

AudiobooksNow offers over 40,000 titles, including many popular works from the world's largest independent audiobook publisher, Recorded Books

Vienna, VA (PRNewswire) November 20, 2014 - AudiobooksNow has added Recorded Books titles to its digital audiobook download and streaming service. Recorded Books is the largest independent audiobook publisher in the industry, offering unabridged audiobooks narrated by professional, award-winning actors.

Recorded Books offers popular series like The Lord of the Ring, The Southern Vampire, and Outlander, now a Starz original series. They also offer works from other bestselling authors like Anne Perry, Jodi Picoult, John Sandford, Patricia Cornwell, and Robyn Carr, just to name a few. Recorded Books was founded in 1979 and although they were not the first company to publish audiobooks, they pioneered quality unabridged recordings versus abridged recordings.

"Adding the world's largest independent audiobook publisher is very exciting" said Bryan Stafford, President and COO of AudiobooksNow. Recorded Books is the twelfth major audiobook publisher to partner with AudiobooksNow. "They have a massive catalog of popular titles that are now available through our digital audiobook service." said Stafford. The addition of Recorded Books has swelled AudiobooksNow's selection to over 40,000 titles.

Recorded Books was founded in 1979 by Henry Trentman, a salesman who spent a great deal of time on the road. He believed there was a market for quality recorded books on cassette tape targeted at commuters. Over 30 years later his belief still holds true. While cassette tapes are a thing of the past, mobile devices are making digital audiobooks more accessible and convenient for commuters across the country.

In addition to AudiobooksNow's growing selection, they also plan to launch updated apps for Android and Nook by the end of the year. "Our Android app has been completely redesigned from the ground up and will be faster and more user friendly than ever." Stafford said. AudiobooksNow also plans to add their free audiobook app to other mobile platforms in 2015.
