Howard Roger Garis (1873–1962) was an American author best known for a series of books featuring the character Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Garis and his wife, Lilian, were possibly the most prolific children’s authors of the early twentieth century. Garis was born in Binghamton, New York, and worked as a reporter for the Newark Evening News.

The children adored this. I found it a bit cloying and repetitive, with Uncle Wiggily continually encountering characters with ridiculous dilemmas (saying "oh dear, oh dear") and solving them with equally ridiculous and serendipitous methods. Childhood Memories I remember reading Uncle Wiggily books as a child. I would spend hours curled on the couch on rainy afternoons lost in Uncle Wiggily stories. I get that same warm feeling now re-reading the same books I read over 60 years ago...thanks, Amazon.......more
