George Alfred Henty (1832–1902) was a prolific English novelist and war correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories for boys that were popular in the late nineteenth century.

It was a very well rounded book. The language used in the book confused me sometimes but I think that was just because the language used when this book was written was different from what we use now. I decided to read this story with an open mind but it is difficult as an American. The very beginning was excellent then it went downhill. It has a great premise but I felt like he wrote this book in anger instead of joy like his other books.......more
