I would give this a solid 2.5 stars. I loved "Gulliver's Travels" and the "Wizard of Oz." A child (although very mature and his dog) sets off on a ship to exotic places with exotic inhabitants. This novel, and the one which follows, are similar in style and content to Gulliver's Travels, but without the strong political references and written for a slightly lower level of vocabulary. It is, nonetheless, an entertaining book and a fun fantasy for a brief escape.......more
