Synopsis

First came the news that a flying saucer had landed in Iowa. Then came the announcement that the whole thing was a hoax. End of story. Case closed. Except that two agents of the most secret intelligence agency in the US government were on the scene and disappeared without reporting in, as did four other agents who were sent in. As a result, the head of the agency and his two top agents went in, and they managed to get out with their discovery: the earth is being invaded by slug-like aliens who can completely control the mind of any human they touch. What the humans know, they know. What the aliens want, no matter what, the human will do. And most of Iowa is already under their control. Sam Cavanaugh was one of the agents who discovered the truth. Unfortunately, that was just before he was taken over by one of the aliens and began working for the invaders, with no will of his own. And he has just learned that a high official in the Treasury Department is now under control of the aliens. Since the Treasury Department includes the Secret Service, which safeguards the president of the United States, control of the entire nation is near at hand. Can-do intelligence officer Cavanaugh is the only man who can stop the invaders.

Heinlein, did you really combine a very sexist plot element with the assumption that no gay people exist as the icing on the cake of your very awkward, biased, and wanna be subliminal writing? Body horror initialization I don´t know how many mind control, body horror, parasite,… tropes had already bee......more

This is the Heinlein book where evil alien slugs take over everyone's brains, causing nationwide chaos. This novel was written in 1951 and is set in 2007 (whew! no mind-controlling slugs around yet ... at least not that I'm aware of. Though the current state of politics makes me wonder ...). The stor......more

Evil, slug-like aliens land on Earth. They attach themselves to people and take over their minds. After a while, everyone has to walk around completely naked, so that you can spot the ones who have a slug attached. I just can't understand why Paul Verhoeven didn't film this. He could have combined S......more

Robert Heinlein's The Puppet Masters is both an action-oriented adventure story about parasitic slug aliens attempting to take over the world and its citizens and social commentary on Communism and the Red Scare. As such, it appeals to young adult readers, who are looking for excitement and aliens,......more

If your neighbour offers you a back rub - watch out! No moral messages or satire! Nothing deep, subliminal, fancy, or indirect and hidden! THE PUPPET MASTERS is straight-up hard driving sci-fi action thriller based on the simple theme of alien invasion! Given the underlying culture of 1950s USA, the......more
