2 BOOKS IN ONE!Includes...The Mark of Cain: When a vampire coven attempts to assassinate Cain they fall under the seven-fold curse. They become "wolves." Now, as he's been forced to do many time throughout the centuries, he has to help those who want him dead. After all, you can't have wolf-vamps running loose in New Orleans. But the coven-turned-wolfpack is the least of Cain's problems. The ancient vampire who sent the bloodsuckers to kill him to begin with is out for blood. Can Cain stop him?The Cowl of Cain: For more than a century Cain wore the cowl. An enchanted infernal object, given him by the Witch of Endor, that prevented him from shifting every full moon. But the cowl demanded blood. It warped his mind, returning him to his murderous origins. If he didn't kill, the cowl would do the opposite, it would reverse his curse, leaving him in werewolf form during the waxing and waning moon. Unwilling to kill again, Cain thought he destroyed the cowl. Until another werewolf appears in New Orleans, always transformed and wearing the cowl, leaving a trail of bodies in its path. When the full moon rises and their roles are reversed, Cain recognizes the cowl-wearing wolf. He's never been so frightened.

About Theophilus Monroe

Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his PhD in theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.

When Theo isn't exploring one of his fantasy lands, he is probably playing with one of his three sons, or pumping iron in his home-gym, which is currently located in a forty-foot shipping container.

I don't know why but Carolyn Wells must have had something about her own sex or she was very conventional for her time. This story was written in 1917 and like several of her previous books, while the mystery is very good, the female character is dislikable, says silly, strange or outright rude thin......more

Enjoyed this mystery especially because of the character of Fibsy who makes his first appearance. Fibsy ( called so - cause he fibs a lot) is a boy who worked in the murdered mans office, he puts together clues in a way that shows up the inefficiency of the police force and even hired private detecti......more

Rowland Trowbridge fails to come home as expected. Only for his body to be discovered. But who could want him dead. Annoyed once again by the insipid main female, which I admit might reflect the time period. But there was the slang of one of the characters which sometimes made him incomprehensible. S......more
