This charming and naive story is exactly the book I would have greatly enjoyed in my childhood. I would not have noticed some drawbacks, e.g. the shallowness of the characters or the uneveness of pacing (as if A.C. Doyle was in a great hurry to finish the story). This is one of Doyle's late works, published in 1929, the year before his death. It's a science-fiction story of undersea exploration uneasily (I believe the proper technical Latin term is "whackadoodle") mixed with some spiritualism in the ancient sunken city of Atlantis.
