Synopsis

'Pacey, twisty and with so many reveals I literally did have my jaw in the floor! I absolutely loved this book. If you’re a fan of a thriller, great drama, and a book with so many twists you’ll get whiplash then this is for you!’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They were told to leave. They should have listened. ‘This has to be the best book I've read in a long time. Captivating story, unexpected twists are everywhere. Absolutely brilliant’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘Louise Jensen does it again. A very unnerving, creepy thriller which I couldn't put down until the last page … Cass, James and Rose's stories will stay with me for a long time’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘Wow, what a read! How Louise managed to plan this multi-layered, twisty plot is beyond me!’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ * * * * The perfect opportunity… A manor house available rent-free to house-sitters is an offer too good to miss for Cass and James, who have been saving for a deposit on their own home for so long. Although it had been abandoned for almost thirty years, after a home invasion left almost all the inhabitants dead, it is an amazing chance for them to build their future. But is it worth the price? Shortly after moving in things take a sinister turn. Objects disappear and turn up in odd places, the clock always stops at the same time, the house is strangely oppressive and sometimes it feels like Cass and James are not alone. Newington House may have bad energy, and a dark reputation. But surely there’s no reason for history to repeat itself, is there? * * * * Praise for Louise Jensen 'Full of twists, turns with fiendishly clever misdirection, this is a gripping, powerful and ambitious book’ ‘A galloping pulse-pounder’ ‘You’ll be left open-mouthed’

Reviews

Goodreads review by Bandit

Originally I was thinking of describing this one as bastard child of Coben and Connolly(John), but the more I read the more it became undeniably clear that this book is a child of no one, this is all Marshall. It is original enough, interesting enough, exciting enough to proudly stand tall on its ow......more

Goodreads review by Bill

This one was quite good. Michael Marshall (Smith) is one of my favourite story tellers. Not only does he have a fertile imagination, but his prose and dialogue are darn near perfect. And no matter how serious in nature the story may be, he can also make you laugh out loud with his dry wit. The Intrud......more

The Intruders is a thriller with a (literally) killer opening scene, a suitably gripping mystery, and wonderful hard-boiled narration ("... guy who looked so disreputable you could have arrested him just for being alive and probably made it stick.") There are so many great ingredients going for this......more

'The Intruders Philippa East “What a story! The premise of hooked me from the start: a young couple moving into a creepy manor house with a history of unsolved murders and dark goings-on. Irresistible! The twists and turns of both the backstory and the present-day plot had me turning the pages, wondering how it all fitted together – and when the truth started to unfold, it did not disappoint. Absolutely loved it.” Praise for Louise Jensen ‘The term pageturner was made for books like this’ ‘is packed with suspense and tension as lives unravel with each secret that's revealed’ Alice Hunter ‘A gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller you won’t want to stop reading!’ ‘Louise Jensen is the master of suspense.’ ‘A clever, complex, twisty tale of a family unravelling, and an absolute page turner of a story.
