Synopsis

When grief pushes Lilly to leave her small Michigan town, all she has is a cryptic note, an old locket, and a one-way ticket to Wakefield, Maryland, the town her mother once called home. But Wakefield is no ordinary place. Here, the air hums with ancient energy, shadows whisper secrets, and time itself feels… different.Strange pains in her wrists awaken when danger draws near. A boy who’s not quite mortal seems bound to her path. And everywhere she turns, there are echoes of a world behind this one, a world of angels, demons, and something called a Half Life.As she pieces together the truth about her heritage, Lilly finds herself at the heart of a celestial war she never asked to fight. But in a world where souls are currency and fate is written in fire and stars, Lilly may be more powerful than anyone expected.

The book jumped from Italy during WWII to the present for no apparent reason. The writing was sub-par and the typos......more
