Hannu Rajaniemi is a Finnish author of science fiction and fantasy short stories and novels, who writes in both English and Finnish. His works include the Jean le Flambeur series, "Elegy for a Young Elk," and "Deus Ex Homine." He holds a BSc in mathematics from the University of Oulu, a certificate of advanced study in mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in mathematical physics from the University of Edinburgh. Hannu lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This leaves off where the first book ended. So Jean has the Schrödinger's Box but still no memories. However, he knows that he, Mieli and the sentient ship need to go to Earth next.
