Synopsis

We all come to the fork in the road many times every day, every week. What was your last fork and where did the road lead? Choice, Chance, and Repercussion face each of us when we decide to go left or right. Reflecting later was it a good or poor choice? Did it yield wealth or disaster? Should we have taken greater care? These 25 stories examine those possibilities in various genres: general, romance, adventure, mystery, crime, fable, and fantasy—whatever your leaning you will find something to your taste here. Many of the stories follow the characters down the second fork and in some cases, even a third one.The author hopes you enjoy the stories and are well satisfied with the journeys taken.

About Eric J. Drysdale

Eric Drysdale lives in Sydney, Australia, where many of the stories have been set. He became an insurance agent in late 1981 and after 41 years, at the age of 77, retired at the end of June 2023 to concentrate on his writing. With over four decades of experience it was only natural that some of the characters found themselves, for good or ill, in insurance plots. For decades Eric has had a fascination with what he refers to as “The Fork in the Road Syndrome,” both in what he writes and reads. About half the stories that make up The Fork in the Road have been published or broadcast before.

Quotes

“So very rarely does one find a writer with a truly identifiable style. I spend my life looking for writers that make me think, ‘I wish I’d written that,’ [as] in the numerous stories from Eric Drysdale…Insightful, engaging, and altogether very human, the prose has a rhythm and clarity that elevates these tales above so many others. I, for one, highly recommend these works, and I have no doubt you will enjoy them just as much as me.” R. J. Ellory, award-winning, international bestselling author of A Quiet Belief in Angels and other novels
