Synopsis

The Floating Light of the Goodwin Sands by R.M. Ballantyne tells the harrowing tale of Phillip Mannion, a young boy stranded aboard a lighthouse ship anchored on the treacherous Goodwin Sands off the English coast. When a fierce storm destroys the vessel and kills the crew, Phillip must survive alone on the wreck, battling isolation, hunger, and despair. Through courage, faith, and resourcefulness, he endures weeks of hardship, maintaining hope and clinging to moral resolve. Rescued at last, his ordeal becomes a testament to resilience and divine providence. Blending maritime danger with Victorian ideals, Ballantyne crafts a gripping survival story that celebrates bravery, perseverance, and the human spirit’s triumph over nature’s fury.
