Synopsis

A woman with extraordinary abilities is drawn into a shocking conspiracy in the first thriller in the Bishop Files series—from the New York Times bestselling author of the Bishop/SCU novels. Within the FBI, there exists a team of psychics whose powers cannot be denied. But these agents are feared—by a cabal of conspirators with only one weapon: to blind the psychics to the evils all around them. Months ago Sarah Gallagher woke from a coma with psychic abilities she couldn’t control. They changed her life and cost her the man she loved. And now, someone is playing games with Sarah’s mind. It begins with Sarah’s home being destroyed by fire—an act of arson that draws novelist Tucker Mackenzie into Sarah’s confidence. But he has other reasons for pursuing a woman who can see what others can’t. So does a mysterious enemy intent on eliminating Sarah, and everyone she cares about. Because it’s only a matter of time before her visions lead her and Tucker to a secret many will kill to hide …

About Kay Hooper

American Romance novelist, Kay Hooper envisioned her career a bit differently when she was younger. She was born in California, but her family quickly moved back to their home state of North Carolina after her birth. Her father was stationed in a California Air Force Base when she was born. In her family of five, she was the oldest child. Her original thought was to take business classes at a community college, but quickly decided that business did not do anything for her interests. After enrolling in some history and literature classes, her focus turned to writing. Her first novel was purchased by Dell Publishing, entitled Lady Thief. Her mother became her personal assistant, and Hooper has had more than 60 novels published. After her mother's death in 2002, her sister Linda became her business manager, publicist, and events coordinator.

Kay Hooper lives the small town life in North Carolina, where she fosters cats and kittens for the local rescue organization. Her family lives close by, and she has many cats and a couple of dogs. She has Kay's Pets Page for readers to view her pet family.

Even with the first book read I am not totally sure of the answer. I was expecting to see more of Bishop and gang in this book than we did see. I liked the characters an......more

I truly liked both of the main characters- but I soon became annoyed with the shrouded mystery of who and why. I had a hard time keeping up with who was the bad guy, who was talking and a big......more

There is a bit of Dean Koontz in the style, but the stories are unique in their own right. Psychics are disappearing in the US and there seem to be two competing organizations ba......more
