Synopsis

The Experiences of Loveday Brooke, Lady Detective is a collection of engaging Victorian-era mysteries featuring one of literature’s first professional female sleuths. Loveday Brooke, clever and observant, relies on her intellect and keen sense of deduction rather than brawn or bravado to solve complex cases. Set against the backdrop of late 19th-century London and its surrounding towns, the stories follow her as she unravels secrets, exposes hidden motives, and outsmarts criminals in a society that often underestimates women. C. L. Pirkis’s tales offer both suspenseful detective work and a fascinating glimpse into the period’s social dynamics, making this audiobook a captivating choice for fans of classic mysteries and smart, pioneering heroines.
