There are things that I liked about this multi-generational novel and some that didn’t quite work for me. Family dysfunction abounds with alcoholism, physical abuse, teen pregnancy, adultery, shattered dreams, regrets and resentments and it was predictable. I think there are some people who will not understand this book because they did not grow up in a small town with limited opportunities and cannot grasp the heaviness of the life that Connie Schultz conveys with each character. But for those who can identify, she perfectly captures the feel of place......more
