Synopsis

The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe is a masterclass in psychological horror and Gothic storytelling. First published in 1843, this unsettling short story explores the dark recesses of guilt, madness, and the supernatural through the eyes of an unreliable narrator. As he recounts the events that led to the grisly death of his beloved pet—and much worse—the boundaries between reality, obsession, and delusion begin to blur. The tale unfolds with Poe’s signature precision and intensity, using themes of alcohol-fueled violence, domestic horror, and eerie coincidence to draw listeners into a haunting confession of murder and moral collapse. This full audiobook channels the tension and psychological unease that Poe so famously crafted, making it a must-listen for fans of gothic fiction, dark psychological thrillers, and classic horror literature.
