Synopsis

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts begins The Dragon Heart Legacy—a new trilogy of adventure, romance, and magick in The Awakening.

In the realm of Talamh, a teenage warrior named Keegan emerges from a lake holding a sword—representing both power and the terrifying responsibility to protect the Fey. In another realm known as Philadelphia, a young woman has just discovered she possesses a treasure of her own…

When Breen Kelly was a girl, her father would tell her stories of magical places. Now she’s an anxious twentysomething mired in student debt and working a job she hates. But one day she stumbles upon a shocking discovery: her mother has been hiding an investment account in her name. It has been funded by her long-lost father—and it’s worth nearly four million dollars.

This newfound fortune would be life-changing for anyone. But little does Breen know that when she uses some of the money to journey to Ireland, it will unlock mysteries she couldn’t have imagined. Here, she will begin to understand why she kept seeing that silver-haired, elusive man, why she imagined his voice in her head saying Come home, Breen Siobhan. It’s time you came home. Why she dreamed of dragons. And where her true destiny lies—through a portal in Galway that takes her to a land of faeries and mermaids, to a man named Keegan, and to the courage in her own heart that will guide her through a powerful, dangerous destiny…

About Nora Roberts

Author, Nora Roberts was born Eleanor Marie Robertson, on October 10, 1950 in Silver Spring, Maryland. For more than three decades Roberts has published more than 200 titles in the romantic novel category. She wrote her first story during the blizzard of 1979, when she was snowed in at her home. The first novel, Irish Thoroughbred, was published just two years later. Then, the next two years brought 23 more published novels, and she finally caught the public's eye in 1985. That last novel, "Playing the Odds" gave Roberts a "fan favorite" status and transformed the romance novel category.

Roberts has two sons by her first marriage, and married her second husband, Bruce Wilder, in 1985. From 1991 to 2001, all 68 novels she published made it onto the New York Times best seller list. In 2000 alone she had 13 best sellers, several making it into number one. She also writes futuristic romantic suspense under the pen name of J.D. Robb. Many of her novels have been adapted into TV movies. She was inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame on 1986. She currently owns the Inn at BoonsBoro in Boonsboro, Maryland. The suites are each inspired by and for romantic couples from books. FYI......she has a fear of flying and is an ardent baseball fan.

Oh. My. Gosh. This book is a freaking fascinating, creative masterpiece! It serves as a marvelous, extended prologue to a new series, impeccably introducing us to the lovable, complex characters and weaving their past and present stories together. It feels like the calm before the storm, perfectly s......more

I adore Nora Roberts, in a comforting and reliable kind of way. Having read everything she's written (as Nora Roberts), admittedly I tend to go into each new story with certain...expectations. THE AWAKENING being The Dragon Heart Legacy: Book 1, I'm sort of certain as to how it will end. But, no. Ms......more

This was disappointing on several levels. 1) I don't get the feeling Roberts has read many modern fantasy books. She's thrown everything at the page in terms of worldbuilding a Fae world, but there's almost zero plot in the last 2/3rds of this book. The fantasy characters talk in a very stilted, ste......more

2.5 stars -- I am a huge fan of La Nora, but I had a very mixed experience with this first entry in a new paranormal series from her. The things I liked were the actual magic system and world the fantasy elements are based on. They are all coorelated to the Fey and set in an alternate fey realm in I......more
