Synopsis

What do you say when you know you don’t have forever? Ruth has been Ann’s closest friend for years—her confidante, her solace, her comic relief, her tutor in life’s mysterious ways. So when Ruth becomes ill, Ann is there for her without question. After all, it is Ruth who encouraged Ann to become who she is, Ruth whose rebellious, eccentric spirit provided the perfect counterpoint to Ann’s conventional, safe outlook. And so the friends go on as they always have . . . gossiping, consoling, and sharing intimate secrets—but with the knowledge that each shared evening could be their last. Acclaimed author Elizabeth Berg has created a searing novel about the strength and salvation of women’s friendships. Deeply moving and surprisingly funny, Talk Before Sleep is an intimate, uncensored portrait of love and loss, struggle and resilience

this is a hallmark special of a book. a quick, but not very good, read about a woman whose best friend is dying of cancer. basically about her, not the dying friend, and how shes gonna be so lonely when the woman dies, since that was her only friend. a kinda whiney book.

I am so happy this one didn’t slip away from me. I had just finished a very long string of “must reads” (Net Galley, read-for-review, and Libby books that had come due) and for once in a very long while was “allowed” to pick any book off my kindle. This one I saw within my first 10 seconds of search......more

Talk Before Sleep is a novel that overwhelmed me. I became totally involved with the characters, and find myself unable to analyze this book or discuss it unemotionally. It is a novel that I actually “felt” – the emotion is real, strong, and beautiful, and if there are flaws with the book’s structur......more

I read this book when it was first written and then again a few years ago. I gave it to my mother to read as well as a few friends. It became a favorite and remains one still. I was about 21 when it first came out. I was interested in the friendships of the women in the story and now that I am older I......more

Ruth is vibrant, adventuresome, artistic, attractive, and some would describe as larger-than-life itself. At age 43 she is also dying of cancer. Although she has many friends, Ann is her soulmate. Her loyalty is unshakable. She stands by her as she loses so much of her physical self to the disease.......more

Labai jautri knyga..
