Synopsis

Beloved author and ragamuffin Brennan Manning writes: “These souvenirs of solitude are the love story of my walk with God. Revisiting the lost silences of the past, I remember and record the intimate moments when I allowed the Lord to lure me into the wilderness and speak to my heart.” This book is a series of remembrances that Brennan recorded in the late 1970s. But as with all good remembrances, they have a timeless quality and a value for readers today. Many of the themes that God has made the indelible marks of Brennan’s life are found in this wonderful book. Dominant among those themes is the astonishing, boundless love of God for us.

About Brennan Manning

Brennan Manning spent his life and ministry helping others experience the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. A recovering alcoholic and former Franciscan priest, his own spiritual journey took him down a variety of paths, all of them leading to the profound reality of God’s irresistible grace. His ministry responsibilities varied greatly – from teacher, to minister to the poor, to solidary reflective. As a writer, Brennan Manning is best known as the author of the contemporary classics, The Ragamuffin Gospel, Abba’s Child, Ruthless Trust, The Importance of Being Foolish, Patched Together, and The Furious Longing of God.

Yet another wonderful book by the late, great Brennan Manning. You can definitely tell it's one of his earlier works without checking the date, he is more clear about his Catholic sensitivities and beliefs and this was when he was still an ordained priest. For example; he has a RCC view of the sacra......more
