Synopsis

Terry Goodkind returns to the epic Sword of Truth saga in a tale of sweeping fantasy adventure bound to enthrall his growing legion of fans. In Temple of the Winds, the New York Times bestselling fourth novel in the series, the Seeker of Truth Richard Rahl and Mother Confessor Kahlan Amnell risked their lives and souls to free the land of D'Hara from the scourge of a magical plague. But in doing so they accidentally unleashed the Chimes, a magic whose threat will reach far beyond D'Hara. Now it has become terrifyingly clear that the Chimes have the potential to bring down all that Richard and Kahlan have worked to protect, and even the power of the Sword of Truth may not be enough to stem the tide of their unleashed magical force. But if the Chimes cannot be stopped, first they will ravage Richard and Kahlan, then all of D'Hara, and then the entire world….

Author Bio

One would never think that a person with dyslexia would become a writer of novels. However, American author, Terry Goodkind crossed the usual boundary and wrote his first novel, even though he did not receive a formal education. He began his adult life building cabinets and violins, as well as was a marine/wildlife artist. His first novel, Wizard's First Rule, was published in 1994, thus beginning his illustrious career. He is now also a part-time race car driver, and is also a devoted husband and a friend to animals.

To quote Author Terry Goodkind........My privilege in life is the joy of writing books and telling stories about people who fascinate me, the good and the bad.

Goodkind's newest novel is NEST, where readers will be drawn into a world that is dark and evil. He remains one of the most controversial thriller writers of our time.

I'm about to get all up in this book's craw for some terrible choices on the part of the author, and the part of his characters, but I would like to state up front that I am not opposed to characters making choices that are morally questionable. If characters--especially "the good guys"--don't mess......more

My 2019 reread of the Sword of Truth series has reached the fifth instalment. On the whole my reread of the first four books went really well. I flew through them and enjoyed them a lot more than I expected to. I took a break, to read some other stuff, before picking this one up so I'm not sure if t......more

So far this has been my least favorite book in the series. While I've seen complaints from reviewers in early books in the series about how Goodkind handles women/misogyny/sexual violence, this is the first book where I actually agree that it's really not great. As a book I also don't think this one......more

*** 2.34 *** I get dark themes, I get writing to portray the innate weaknesses of humanity, which often lead to doing bad things to others, and I can understand making a parallel between a Fantasy World and our own. But this is the second book of the series where I feel the author isn't just making a......more

This book is a lot slower going than the previous four, perhaps because Terry Goodkind is putting a lot of focus on characters we have never heard of up until now. At halfway through the book he picks up the pace though, and the last half of the book is actually very enjoyable. Still, not even close......more
